Cable TV of East Alabama or CTVEA is a cable company founded in 1985 that provides high speed Internet and is located in Phoenix, Alabama at 2400 Sportsman Dr address. It has been on the market from a long time but has not managed to prove itself a worthy service. There have been many complaints from subscribers regarding bad program management and the monopoly that the company created in the area.

                          The monopoly is reaching its end since companies like DishNetwork or Bellsouth have evolved into the area and provide better services at a lower price. Competition is good for the average human because it makes the market develop more and more and all the benefits come to the citizen. But since there was no competition in the past, for many years people were fooled by this company by raising the prices to an outrageous rate and the clients, having no other alternative have paid for the regular subscription. Some people say that the company had goo establishment in the zone because of the government didn't let any other providers get involved. But the price was not the only issue.

                           Cable TV of East Alabama has not only made profit from forcing people to pay their monthly plan, but the services they offer got worse and worse instead of improving. For example the local TV programs got out of the initial package but the prices remained the same, they were lying without shame that High Definition channels would require users to have a special digital box that costs, unlike other providers who give that for free.

                           Along with the constant raise in charges their phone and field support was a mess. If a weather problem aroused they fixed it in a few days and on the phone line customers didn't get quick and effective responses at all. If somebody wanted to quit from them and choose another cable firm they could not disconnect you instantly, they kept using these excuses to force you to remain in their business. Usually they did disconnect you in two weeks.

                          The taxes they charged for subscribing were even three times greater than any other alternative and if you would want only DSL Internet it was not possible to have it alone; just together with the cable package. This was a great mistake from their part, as others are cornering them now.
